Description

These Baked Italian Sub Sandwiches feature layers of savory meats, creamy cheese, and fresh veggies, all drizzled with butter and baked to perfection. A satisfying treat for any sandwich lover!


Ingredients

  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Italian dressing
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/4 pound salami, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 pound deli ham, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 pound mortadella, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 pound pepperoni, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato, thinly sliced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 cup sliced banana peppers
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix mayonnaise and Italian dressing in a small bowl.
  3. Slice hoagie rolls in half and place open-faced on a baking sheet.
  4. Spread the mayo mixture evenly on the bottom half of each roll.
  5. Layer two slices of provolone cheese over the mayonnaise on each roll.
  6. Layer salami, ham, mortadella, and pepperoni evenly on each sandwich.
  7. Top meats with remaining provolone slices.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese melts and edges of bread are lightly toasted.
  9. Remove from oven and layer tomato, onion, lettuce, and banana peppers on top.
  10. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  11. Drizzle melted butter on the top half of each roll and place it over the sandwich.
  12. Press gently, cut into halves if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can customize the meats based on preference or availability.
  • Optional vegetables: roasted red peppers, olives, or cucumber slices.
  • For spicier sandwiches, add red pepper flakes to the mayo mixture.
