Description

Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies — soft, chewy, and loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chips, perfect for homemade indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/8 cups all-purpose flour (scoop and level, see notes)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, plus extra for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the butter mixture until combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Use a cookie scoop or spoon to drop dough onto prepared baking sheets. Top with extra chocolate chips if desired.
  7. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
  8. Allow cookies to cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the dough to keep cookies soft.
  • For thicker cookies, chill dough for 30 minutes before baking.
