Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies — soft, chewy, and loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chips, perfect for homemade indulgence.
Ingredients
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/8 cups all-purpose flour (scoop and level, see notes)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, plus extra for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the butter mixture until combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Use a cookie scoop or spoon to drop dough onto prepared baking sheets. Top with extra chocolate chips if desired.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
- Allow cookies to cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Do not overmix the dough to keep cookies soft.
- For thicker cookies, chill dough for 30 minutes before baking.
