Description

This Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Tart is a rich and dreamy fall dessert that combines a deep chocolate crust with a creamy pumpkin filling. Easy to prepare and perfect with a dollop of whipped cream, it is a delicious twist on classic pumpkin pie.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pure pumpkin
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Spray a 9-inch round tart pan with a removable bottom with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, dark cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the melted butter. Stir until a crumbly dough forms.
  3. Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared tart pan. Place the tart pan on a baking sheet and bake the crust for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
  4. While the crust cools, whisk together the pumpkin, sweetened condensed milk, egg, pumpkin pie spice, and salt until smooth.
  5. Pour the pumpkin filling into the cooled crust and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes at 425°F. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and continue baking for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the tart cool for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.
  8. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • Store the tart covered in the refrigerator.
  • Allow the tart to cool completely before slicing for cleaner pieces.
  • A removable-bottom tart pan makes it easier to remove and serve the tart.
  • Serve chilled or allow it to sit at room temperature briefly before serving.
  • Whipped cream makes a delicious topping for this rich chocolate and pumpkin dessert.
