- For the Bars:
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
- 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional Topping:
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper or grease lightly.
- Prepare the Batter: Whisk mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla and mix well.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually fold into banana mixture until just combined.
- Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in chocolate chips, reserving a small handful for topping.
- Bake the Bars: Pour batter into prepared pan, sprinkle remaining chips on top. Bake 22–26 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
- Cool and Serve: Cool completely before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to keep bars soft and moist.
- Use ripe bananas for best flavor and sweetness.
