Description

Soft, moist banana bars loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chips, perfect for a dessert or a sweet snack anytime.

Ingredients

    • For the Bars:
    • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 tsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
    • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Optional Topping:
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper or grease lightly.
  2. Prepare the Batter: Whisk mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla and mix well.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually fold into banana mixture until just combined.
  4. Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in chocolate chips, reserving a small handful for topping.
  5. Bake the Bars: Pour batter into prepared pan, sprinkle remaining chips on top. Bake 22–26 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  6. Cool and Serve: Cool completely before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to keep bars soft and moist.
  • Use ripe bananas for best flavor and sweetness.
