Description

These light and fluffy Dinner Rolls will be the best you’ve ever tasted! They have a hint of sweetness and a soft, pillowy texture. The sweet and savory honey butter topping is the perfect finishing touch.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk, 110-115° F
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons Active Dry Yeast, or 1 packet
  • 2 tablespoons honey (can substitute sugar)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature, cut into 4 cubes
  • 3 ¼ cups (390 g) all-purpose or bread flour

Butter Topping

  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk and yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer. Stir in 1 tablespoon honey. Cover and let sit 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in remaining honey, cornstarch, salt, egg, butter, and 1/3 of flour. Mix on low speed with paddle attachment. Add remaining flour gradually while mixing for 30 seconds.
  3. Switch to dough hook and beat medium-low for 2 minutes. Add 1 tbsp flour at a time if dough is too sticky; dough should remain slightly sticky.
  4. Dust hands with flour and knead dough in bowl for 3 minutes.
  5. Scrape dough into lightly greased bowl, cover, let rise in warm place until doubled (1-2 hours).
  6. Punch down dough, shape into 15 smooth balls, place in greased 9×13-inch dish. Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  7. Preheat oven to 375° F. Bake for 18 minutes.
  8. Combine melted butter and honey. Brush tops of rolls with mixture, return to oven 3-5 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly and serve warm.
