Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- Shredded provolone cheese, for topping
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5–7 minutes.
- Add sliced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until onions are translucent and softened, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- While simmering, lightly toast the hamburger buns under the broiler for 1–2 minutes until golden.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun and top with shredded provolone cheese.
- Place under the broiler for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately with the top half of the buns.
Notes
- Do not overcook the onions; they should be soft but not burnt.
- Adjust seasoning to taste before assembling the sandwiches.
- Optional: serve with pickles or a side salad for extra flavor.
