Description
These French Toast Roll-Ups are a fun twist on classic French toast. Soft bread is rolled with a buttery cinnamon-sugar filling, dipped in a rich egg mixture, pan-fried until golden, and coated in cinnamon sugar. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet snack.
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar (for coating)
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
- 8 slices soft white bread, crusts removed
- 3 tbsp butter, for frying
- Maple syrup, for serving
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon cinnamon until smooth.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
- In another small bowl, combine the remaining 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon.
- Trim the crusts from each slice of bread and flatten each slice with a rolling pin to about 1/8-inch thick.
- Spread a thin layer of the cinnamon butter mixture over each slice and roll up tightly.
- Melt the butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, coating all sides, then place in the skillet.
- Cook for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.
- Immediately roll or sprinkle the warm roll-ups with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping.

- Use fresh, soft sandwich bread for easier rolling.
- Add cream cheese, Nutella, or fruit preserves for extra filling variations.
- Cook in batches if your skillet is small to avoid overcrowding.
