Description
Grilled Chicken Yakitori Skewers are a flavorful and easy-to-make dish featuring marinated chicken thighs grilled to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons mirin or rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sake or white wine
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Green onions cut into 2-inch pieces (for garnish)
- Wooden skewers soaked in water for 30 minutes
Instructions
- Cut the chicken thighs into 1-inch pieces and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, and black pepper until sugar dissolves.
- Add chicken to marinade, cover, and refrigerate 30 minutes to 2 hours.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread chicken onto soaked skewers, alternating with green onion if desired.
- Grill 5–7 minutes per side until cooked through with grill marks, brushing with remaining marinade.
- Remove from grill, rest a few minutes, serve hot with green onions garnish.
Notes
- For a sweeter glaze, add an extra tablespoon of brown sugar to the marinade.
- For a spicy kick, include a teaspoon of sriracha or red pepper flakes in the marinade.
