Description

Grilled Chicken Yakitori Skewers are a flavorful and easy-to-make dish featuring marinated chicken thighs grilled to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin or rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sake or white wine
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Green onions cut into 2-inch pieces (for garnish)
  • Wooden skewers soaked in water for 30 minutes


Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken thighs into 1-inch pieces and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, and black pepper until sugar dissolves.
  3. Add chicken to marinade, cover, and refrigerate 30 minutes to 2 hours.
  4. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Thread chicken onto soaked skewers, alternating with green onion if desired.
  6. Grill 5–7 minutes per side until cooked through with grill marks, brushing with remaining marinade.
  7. Remove from grill, rest a few minutes, serve hot with green onions garnish.

Notes

  • For a sweeter glaze, add an extra tablespoon of brown sugar to the marinade.
  • For a spicy kick, include a teaspoon of sriracha or red pepper flakes in the marinade.
