Description

Hot Honey Shrimp & Grits is a flavorful Southern-inspired dish featuring creamy, cheesy grits topped with succulent shrimp coated in a sweet and spicy honey glaze.

Ingredients

  • For the creamy grits:
    • 1 cup quick-cooking grits
    • 3 cups water
    • 1 cup milk
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • For the hot honey shrimp:
    • 1012 large shrimp, peeled & deveined
    • 1 tbsp olive oil
    • 1 tbsp butter
    • 1 tsp paprika
    • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
    • Salt & pepper, to taste
    • 2 tbsp honey
    • 12 tsp hot sauce (adjust to heat preference)
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Optional toppings:
    • Green onions
    • Crispy turkey bacon
    • Extra drizzle of hot honey

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring water and milk to a boil. Slowly whisk in grits and reduce heat to low. Cook according to package instructions, stirring occasionally.
  2. Once grits are cooked, stir in butter, cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Keep warm.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and butter. Season shrimp with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  4. Add shrimp to skillet and cook until pink and opaque, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  5. Drizzle honey and hot sauce over shrimp, stir to coat, and remove from heat. Squeeze in lemon juice.
  6. Serve shrimp over creamy grits and top with optional green onions, crispy bacon, or extra hot honey if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust hot sauce to your preferred spice level.
  • Quick-cooking grits save time, but stone-ground grits can be used for a more authentic texture.
