Ingredients

  • For the Pepper Steak:
  • 8 oz flank steak or sirloin (thinly sliced)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp vegetable or sesame oil
  • For the Stir-Fry Veggies:
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers (sliced, mixed colors)
  • 1/4 cup onion (sliced)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • For the Stir-Fry Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • For the Veggie Fried Rice:
  • 1½ cups cooked rice (day-old preferred)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 green onion (sliced)
  • Salt & white pepper to taste
  • Optional Add-In:
  • 1 egg (beaten)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Veggie Fried Rice: Heat oil in a skillet or wok over medium heat. Add mixed vegetables and sauté 2–3 minutes. Add rice and stir-fry 3–4 minutes. Season with salt and white pepper. Push rice aside and scramble egg if using. Stir in green onion. Remove and set aside.
  2. Stir-Fry the Steak: Heat oil in the same pan over high heat. Season steak with salt and pepper and sear 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook the Veggies: Add bell peppers, onion, and garlic to the pan. Stir-fry 2–3 minutes until crisp-tender.
  4. Add Sauce & Combine: Whisk sauce ingredients together. Return steak to the pan, add sauce, and cook 1–2 minutes until thickened and glossy.
  5. Serve: Plate pepper steak with veggie fried rice and serve hot.
