Description

This Salmon Gratin combines tender salmon, sautéed mushrooms, broccoli, and a creamy white sauce, all topped with melted mozzarella cheese for a comforting and delicious meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets (6-8 oz each), skin removed
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 4 oz crimini mushrooms
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 400 ml milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Mozzarella or white cheese blend

Instructions

  1. Combine the sliced onion and flour.
  2. Heat a skillet over low heat and melt the butter.
  3. Add the onion mixture and cook until no longer powdery.
  4. Gradually add the milk, stirring well after each addition, until the sauce thickens. Season with salt.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  6. Cook the broccoli until tender and season with salt.
  7. Cut the salmon into bite-sized pieces and season lightly with salt.
  8. Cut the mushrooms into quarters.
  9. Brown the salmon in a nonstick pan over medium heat.
  10. Remove the salmon and sauté the mushrooms.
  11. Place the broccoli, mushrooms, and salmon in a gratin or casserole dish.
  12. Pour the white sauce over the top and stir lightly.
  13. Sprinkle with cheese and bake until melted.
  14. Broil briefly for a golden-brown topping if desired.

Notes

  • Use individual gratin dishes or one large casserole dish.
  • Broiling the gratin for a few minutes creates a more golden topping.
