This Simple Cheesy Green Bean Casserole takes a beloved holiday classic and adds a rich cheddar twist. With tender green beans, creamy mushroom and celery soups, and layers of crispy fried onions, it’s a crowd-pleasing side dish perfect for family dinners or festive gatherings.
Ingredients
- For the casserole base:
 - 4 cans (14.5 oz each) French cut green beans, drained
 - 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
 - 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of celery soup
 - 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
 - 1/4 tsp kosher salt
 - 3 oz French fried onions
 - For the topping:
 - 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
 - 3 oz French fried onions
 
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
 - In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery soup, shredded cheddar cheese, kosher salt, and 3 oz of French fried onions. Stir until everything is evenly coated and combined.
 - Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
 - Bake uncovered for 25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly around the edges.
 - Remove from oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese and 3 oz of fried onions evenly over the top.
 - Return to the oven and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the onions are golden and crispy.
 - Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm and enjoy!
 
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute low-fat soups and reduced-fat cheese.
 - Add a few dashes of hot sauce or crushed red pepper flakes for a little kick.
