Description

This Simple Cheesy Green Bean Casserole takes a beloved holiday classic and adds a rich cheddar twist. With tender green beans, creamy mushroom and celery soups, and layers of crispy fried onions, it’s a crowd-pleasing side dish perfect for family dinners or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • For the casserole base:
  • 4 cans (14.5 oz each) French cut green beans, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of celery soup
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 3 oz French fried onions
  • For the topping:
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 oz French fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery soup, shredded cheddar cheese, kosher salt, and 3 oz of French fried onions. Stir until everything is evenly coated and combined.
  3. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly around the edges.
  5. Remove from oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese and 3 oz of fried onions evenly over the top.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the onions are golden and crispy.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm and enjoy!
