Description

Stovetop Custard Cream Buns are soft, fluffy, and filled with rich creamy custard — the perfect cozy homemade treat for breakfast or snacks.


Ingredients

    • For the Buns
    • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
    • 2 teaspoons Instant Dry Yeast
    • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar
    • 1 teaspoon Salt
    • 1 cup Warm Water
    • 1 cup Milk
    • 2 tablespoons Oil (Canola or Sunflower)

 

    • For the Custard Filling
    • 1 package Custard Powder
    • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence (optional)

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Non-Stick Pan
  • Kitchen Towel


Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another container, mix warm water, milk, and oil.
  3. Pour the liquids into the dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  6. Prepare custard filling according to package instructions and add vanilla essence.
  7. Punch down the risen dough and knead for 3 minutes.
  8. Divide into 12 pieces and roll each into a 3–4 inch circle.
  9. Add a spoonful of custard to the center and seal tightly.
  10. Let the buns rest for 15 minutes.
  11. Heat a non-stick pan on low, cover, and cook the buns for 10 minutes.
  12. Flip gently, cover, and cook for another 5 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.
