Description

This Honey Garlic Ground Turkey Recipe is a quick and delicious weeknight dinner featuring lean ground turkey coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. It’s high in protein, gluten-free when made with tamari, and ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil (canola or avocado)

Instructions

  1. Heat the neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground turkey, breaking it apart as it cooks. Sauté for 6-7 minutes until browned and fully cooked.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes if using.
  5. Pour the sauce over the turkey and stir well to coat evenly.
  6. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Stir in most of the sliced green onions, reserving a little for garnish.
  8. Serve over rice, noodles, or in lettuce wraps. Garnish with the remaining green onions.

Notes

  • Watch the garlic carefully to prevent burning.
  • Use tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
  • Add more red pepper flakes or fresh chili for extra heat.
  • Ground chicken or lean ground beef can be substituted for the turkey.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
