Description
This Honey Garlic Ground Turkey Recipe is a quick and delicious weeknight dinner featuring lean ground turkey coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. It’s high in protein, gluten-free when made with tamari, and ready in just 25 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil (canola or avocado)
Instructions
- Heat the neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground turkey, breaking it apart as it cooks. Sauté for 6-7 minutes until browned and fully cooked.
- Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Pour the sauce over the turkey and stir well to coat evenly.
- Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Stir in most of the sliced green onions, reserving a little for garnish.
- Serve over rice, noodles, or in lettuce wraps. Garnish with the remaining green onions.
Notes
- Watch the garlic carefully to prevent burning.
- Use tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
- Add more red pepper flakes or fresh chili for extra heat.
- Ground chicken or lean ground beef can be substituted for the turkey.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
