Description

Indulge in the rich, nostalgic flavors of Turtle Caramel Cake, a delightful dessert that combines soft chocolate cake, luscious caramel filling, and crunchy pecans. Perfect for birthdays or cozy dinners, with minimal effort required.

Ingredients

  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 1 package (11 oz) caramel bits
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 container chocolate fudge frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, whole milk, eggs, and canola oil. Beat until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. While baking, make the caramel filling by heating caramel bits, melted butter, and evaporated milk in a saucepan until smooth.
  5. Once the cake is partially baked, pour the warm caramel over it and top with chocolate chips and pecans.
  6. Spoon the remaining batter gently over the toppings.
  7. Bake an additional 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  8. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before frosting with chocolate fudge frosting.

Notes

  • Use any preferred chocolate chips or nuts to customize.
  • Ensure cake is fully cooled before frosting for best results.
