Ingredients
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1/3 cup canola oil
- 1 package (11 oz) caramel bits
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups chopped pecans
- 1 container chocolate fudge frosting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, whole milk, eggs, and canola oil. Beat until smooth.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 15 minutes.
- While baking, make the caramel filling by heating caramel bits, melted butter, and evaporated milk in a saucepan until smooth.
- Once the cake is partially baked, pour the warm caramel over it and top with chocolate chips and pecans.
- Spoon the remaining batter gently over the toppings.
- Bake an additional 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
- Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before frosting with chocolate fudge frosting.
