These Hearty Smash Burger Fries combine crispy oven-baked fries, juicy smashed beef patties, creamy cheese sauce, and tangy special sauce for the ultimate loaded comfort food meal.
Ingredients

- 1 (26 oz) package frozen crispy fries
- 1/2 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)
- Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
- Pickles, for garnish
- Jalapeño slices, for garnish
- Cheese Sauce
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup milk
- 2 1/2 cups grated white cheddar cheese
- Special Sauce
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp dill relish
- 2 tbsp shredded onion
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp honey
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Bake frozen fries in a single layer for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Season ground beef and divide into small portions. Smash into thin patties in a hot skillet and cook until browned on both sides.
- Make cheese sauce by melting butter, whisking in flour, then slowly adding milk. Stir in cheddar until smooth.
- Mix special sauce ingredients in a bowl until combined.
- Layer cooked fries on a baking tray, top with smashed beef, cheese sauce, and more cheese if desired.
- Bake assembled fries for 5–10 minutes until hot and melted.
- Top with pickles, jalapeños, and special sauce before serving.
Notes
- Best served immediately while hot and crispy.
- Use 80/20 beef for juicier flavor.
- Pre-shredded cheese is not recommended for sauce.
- You can customize toppings freely (onions, extra pickles, etc.).
