Description
These oven-baked halal cabbage burgers are a crispy, juicy, and low-carb twist on classic burgers, featuring seasoned ground beef baked on tender cabbage slices with melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 head green cabbage (cut into 1-inch thick slices)
- 1 lb halal ground beef
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise (halal-certified)
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing cabbage)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Slice cabbage into 1-inch thick rounds, place on tray, brush with olive oil, and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Mix halal ground beef with onion, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Form beef mixture into patties and place on top of each cabbage slice.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes until beef is cooked through.
- Remove from oven, spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard over each patty, then top with cheese.
- Return to oven for 3–5 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use halal-certified sauces and cheese.
- For extra crisp edges, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end.
- Serve with salad, roasted vegetables, or baked fries.
