This halal slow cooker creamy tomato basil chicken is rich, comforting, and packed with flavor—tender chicken simmered in a creamy tomato basil sauce that’s perfect for pasta, rice, or low-carb sides.
Ingredients
- 1 can diced tomatoes with Italian herbs (halal-friendly)
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (halal-certified)
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 4 halal boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 2 lbs)
- 2 tbsp fresh basil (chopped)
- Grated parmesan-style halal cheese (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- Add diced tomatoes, marinara sauce, garlic, salt, Italian seasoning, basil, and pepper to a slow cooker and stir.
- In a bowl, whisk heavy cream with cornstarch until smooth, then pour into slow cooker.
- Add chicken breasts and press them into the sauce.
- Cook on low for 3–4 hours until chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Shred slightly or leave whole, then stir in fresh basil.
- Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.
